Alberta
Just as I started missing my family back in Florida, my humans surprised me!!!! We went to Calgary to visit family that I have not seen in a while. They had a beautiful home with a huge living room that had a couch next to three big windows that were facing a park, yes I said it, a PARK GUYS, a PARKKKKKK. I found my spot for the stay, except the guy that was living there kept trying to steal my spot, so I kept pushing him away. He finally learned! However, the alpha of the house, the mom, the best cook and loving person ever was allowed to have my spot, but she loves me so much that she let me have it.
Enough about my favorite spot.
Calgary is very pet friendly because they have so many parks, walking paths, and pet stores such as PetSmart and PetValue. We walked around Calgary’s River Walk that was filled with ducks and humans playing music outside. I was allowed in the restaurants downtown with outside seating and was welcomed with a fresh water bowl and some kisses. We spent a day in Bowness Park and took a long walk by the river. We ended the day by visiting Bowmont Dog Park and running around with some new Canadian friends.
Lake Louise, WOW, so beautiful and the color of the lake is so blue that I can even see it. We hiked for over 9 miles and may I say, this was my second favorite hike because there was SNOWWWW. Yes, I got to run around and jump into some snow that was so deep, my parents had to help me out of the hole. After reaching the top of this glacier, we headed back down towards the lake. Of course, I also had to hop into the lake for a few minutes. I posed for a few quick pictures, then back to the truck. On the way back we stopped to explore the town of Banff. Another WOW, it is so beautiful that I held my poop the whole time we walked around the town. I browsed around the Banff Doghouse store and checked out the dog friendly popsicles. We had dinner at saltlicks, where I was again greeted with a water bowl and kisses. I ate my dinner my humans brought me, and had a few bites of some delicious steak…. I hope that wasn’t one of the friends I met in Texas…eh it was still delicious.
The next day, my humans and my cousins went to Kananaskis National Park to hike to Troll Falls. Can I just say how lucky I am to be in Canada, the national parks here are completely pet friendly. We hiked over 2.1 miles and was able to walk up to the waterfall in three different sections. It was so fun getting a little wet on a warm day. Then it all changed, on the way back, I spotted a BEARRRRR, yea I said a BEAR. Luckily my mom if terrified of the wilderness and asked the park rangers what to do in this exact situation. I was being a good girl and sat down and did not make a sound. We slowly walked back to the car without spooking the bear and headed to Kananaskis Village. The village was so relaxing and beautiful with big Rocky Mountains surrounding you, we decided to spend a week at Mount Kidd RV Park. We spent many days hiking, grilling, and hanging out by the fire. Everyday, my mission was to search for as many bears as I can, so I did, a total of 9. However, while searching I spotted many rocky mountain sheep, lots of squires, deer, rabbits, eagles, elks and a moose.
My 2nd Birthday, just so happened to fall in the best spot, Kananaskis. I was so spoiled, I woke up to a brand-new treat, a prosciutto bone, which I’ve never had before, YUMMMMMM. After I ate that, we hiked around Wedge Pond, because like I previously said, I love hiking around water. When I came back, I had more presents and a big steak waiting on me for dinner. Of course, to top of it all, my mom made me a birthday cake with my favorite topping, whipped cream.
I had the best week in Kananaskis!!!!
Before leaving Alberta, we had to go to Banff National Park. We hiked Bow Falls which was a quick hike with a large clean trail and a powerful waterfall. Afterwards we went to Two Jack Lake to snap a few quick pictures. I don’t know what they do to the water in Canada but it was also very blue. Our last outing in Canada was Mount Norquay, which is just outside of the town of Banff. The road has lots of sharp turn and people riding bicycles up towards the ski resort. Along the drive I was spotting rocky mountain sheep the whole way, then boom another familiar smell. I told my humans to quickly stop, which is where I spotted a baby bear from the truck. I didn’t see his mom, so I figured it was best to leave him alone. Once again for being such a good girl with the bear, my humans took me to the Canmore Doghouse to spoil me with more treats and presents.
As my trip in Alberta was coming to an end, I didn’t want to leave my favorite spot on the couch, the mountains, the cool weather and my favorite person, Vjollca. I know how to sniff my way back here, so I will be back.
